The Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network held
its third quarterly Education and Networking Conference for
2008 on June 17th at The Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library
and Home in Hyde Park, NY. It was a well attended event by seventy (70) participants
from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties. A
variety of healthcare disciplines were represented, including physicians, midwives,
nurses, social workers, community health workers and healthcare students. The
two keynote presentations focused on the perinatal autopsy, perinatal loss bereavement
and helping families deal with perinatal loss. The conference concluded with
an open discussion on identifying available perinatal loss bereavement services
and resources in the Lower Hudson Valley region, determining needed services,
resources and organizational policies that will support families experiencing
perinatal loss.
