The five food groups: grain, vegetables, fruits, dairy (milk products) and protein (meat, beans, nuts), provide different sources of the nutrients that the mother and baby need. Make sure to eat the right amount (servings) from each group daily. Drink extra fluids especially water because of the increased blood volume during pregnancy.
